The
Sieur du Lhut Society is the United Way of Greater Duluth’s
leadership giving group. Named after Daniel Greysolon, Sieur du
Lhut, a fearless explorer who founded the area that is now the City
of Duluth in 1679, this group of committed leaders has a shared
vision to actively create hope for the future of our community.
They see their contributions as ensuring care and opportunity for
those in our community in need of support, today and in the future.
This group has set an impressive record of financial
leadership in every campaign for the last ten years. Contributions
have increased dramatically, going from $250,103 in the 1991-92
campaign to $502,886 in 2002-03. Each year, leadership givers have
acknowledged the challenge, made the commitment, and set the example
for others to follow.
Society membership is open to individuals or couples
through four levels of annual giving:
| The Daniel Greysolon Order |
$5,000 and over
|
| The Visionary Order |
$3,500 to $4,999 |
| The Explorer Order |
$2,000 to $3,499 |
| The Friends Order |
$1,000 to $1,999 |
The gifts of couples who give through separate workplace
campaigns or individual gifts are combined, if they wish, to determine
the level of giving.
The vision, courage, and commitment of this group
are greatly appreciated by all those who care for this community.
