FOSTERING SUCCESSFUL CHILDREN & YOUTH

Success By 6 is an early childhood initiative that works to ensure that all children from birth to age 6 have the positive and enriching experiences necessary to begin school prepared to succeed. Through data-tracking, advocacy, public awareness, and neighborhood-based programs, Success By 6 collaborates with its partners to positively impact community-indicators that lead to school readiness. United Way of Greater Duluth is fostering the healthy development of children and youth to ensure they are ready to succeed in school and life through:

  • Increasing children’s readiness to achieve in school
  • Improving academic achievement
  • Promoting positive youth development through high-quality out-of-school opportunitie
  • Help families access public and private community services focused on the overall health of children so that they enter school healthy and ready to succeed. Children and youth benefit from services that help them learn and flourish.


Facts:

  • 50% of Minnesota Children entering Kindegarten are not ready for school. [Minnesota Department of Education]
  • Limited access to quality early childhood care and education and youth development opportunities.
  • Lack of information for parents and caregivers regarding healthy early childhood development information.

The work we do:
Through strategic advocacy, financial investment, volunteer programs, collaborations, and education campaigns, we:

  • Support parents and caregivers.
  • Improve the quality of care and make it affordable and accessible.
  • Ensure that children are healthy so they can learn.
