Smiles Across Minnesota
is a coalition of dedicated volunteers representing health,
community, government, education and business organizations
dedicated to:
Preventing and reducing dental disease
for all Minnesota children, focusing on underserved
and uninsured children.
Supporting school and community-based
access points that increase the number of underserved
children getting basic dental care.
Promoting education for good oral health.
Smiles Across Minnesota provides children
ages three to 12 with preventive dental services, including
cleanings, fluoride treatments and sealants – right
within the schools.
Dental services will be offered to all students
at participating schools and administered by a local hygienist
from Children’s Dental Services. Children’s
Dental Services has over 40 years of experience providing
site-based care in schools.
ISD 709 schools that are currently participating
schools include:
Congdon Park Elementary
Grant Magnet Elementary
Homecroft Elementary
Lakewood Elementary
Lester Park Elementary
Laura Macarthur Elementary
Nettleton Elementary
Piedmont Elementary
Rockridge Elementary
Stowe Elementary
Additional schools may be added at the
discretion of the school district.
How Does the Program Work? Schools send consent forms home for parents to
sign and return.
All children who return a consent form are eligible to
receive care. Insurance will be billed for those who have
it, and assistance in applying for insurance is available.
For those without insurance and who are income-eligible,
free care will be provided.
Services include an initial screening, cleaning and oral
health education. If needed, sealants and fluoride are
applied.
