Physical & Motor Skills

June

June, 23 months, loves to load blocks onto her toy cart. She pushes her cart around rooms, sometimes sorting the blocks by color or shape.

She also builds towers with the blocks and makes a pretend house for her toy people.

How Your Toddler is Developing

  • Gross Motor Development—Moves body with purpose to achieve a goal.
  • Fine Motor Development—Controls small muscles in hands when doing simple tasks.

Helping Your Toddler Grow

  • Recognize physical skills that are used in solving problems, playing and interacting with others.
  • Provide toys and materials that offer practice for fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination, like puzzles, blocks and construction toys.
