Fundraising Tips
Collecting Donations - it's easy!

Collecting donations is easy when it goes toward helping people in need. Know that all of the money collected for a "Night Without a Home” will go toward the Heading Home St. Louis County Project Homeless Connect events occurring throughout St. Louis County. These events are designed to break down barriers and truly connect people to the services they need to escape homelessness. The funds will be used to end homelessness by providing financial assistance for essentials such as: deposits – rental and utilities, birth certificates and state ID cards, bus and gas vouchers, medical co-pays, work essentials (i.e.: uniforms, boots), etc.

Understand and explain what the money will be used for – to help end homelessness by providing the financial assistance needed to get off the streets.

Donations are tax deductible.

Talk about what you will be doing at A Night Without a Home – learning about homelessness and sleeping outside.

Tell people your pledge collection goal – tell them that you are trying raise at least $50 in donations.

Start with your own personal donation – friends, family and neighbors will be more apt to support you when they see you have already contributed.

Ask in different ways – in addition to asking in person, call or e-mail or write a letter requesting donations and support.

Get matching gifts – ask your church council or a business if they would match the donations you’ve collected.

Host an “End Homelessness Now” Party – invite friends, family and neighbors to get behind the cause and support you at a kick-off party.

The most important thing – keep a positive & enthusiastic attitude!
